Maury L. Hull, PhD, is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of California Davis, with joint appointments in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Orthopaedic Surgery. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at California Northstate University. He earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and his MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California Berkeley.

Dr. Hull played a pivotal role at UC Davis, chairing the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program and spearheading the creation of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on orthopedic biomechanics, with an emphasis on the human knee, musculoskeletal system modeling, and sports biomechanics and equipment design. He was a member of the team that pioneered kinematic alignment.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Hull has authored over 300 publications in peer reviewed journals. His numerous accolades include the Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award from the Carnegie Mellon University College of Engineering, the Giovanni Borelli Award from the American Society of Biomechanics, and the H. R. Lissner Medal from the Bioengineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Recognized for his educational contributions, he also received the UC Davis Engineering Alumni Distinguished Teaching Award and the Robert M. Nerem Education and Mentorship Medal from ASME.
